  • About this Project

The Roma Home is a striking modern renovation of a once-dilapidated ranch-style house in Phoenix’s historic Palm District, just east of Camelback Mountain. Designed by Spry Architecture, the 2,400-square-foot residence reimagines mid-century living for a new era, balancing historic context with bold contemporary expression.

  • From Forgotten to Forward-Thinking

The original 60-year-old home was partially demolished, making way for a new two-story volume clad in Galvalume metal and stucco, punctuated with exposed steel beams. This upper level introduces a light-filled primary suite, spa-like bath, walk-in closet, and a flexible exercise/study space — all designed to maximize panoramic views of Camelback Mountain and towering palm trees. The rest of the home was strategically remodeled, optimizing the original footprint to create well-scaled, livable rooms with improved flow and function. The result is a thoughtful hybrid of preservation and reinvention.

  • Breathing New Life Into a Historic Neighborhood

With clean lines, smart material choices, and respect for the surrounding context, the Roma Home demonstrates how modern design can coexist with heritage—elevating both the home and its neighborhood.
