A hillside custom home in Fountain Hills, Arizona
Eric Spry, Spry Architecture
Perched in the elevated enclave of Crestview Estates in Fountain Hills, Arizona, the Heselton Home by Spry Architecture is a 6,000-square-foot modern desert residence that cascades naturally down a steep hillside lot. Designed to embrace the surrounding Sonoran Desert and distant northeast mountain views, this two-story home features layered outdoor spaces, seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, and a detached guest house at the lowest elevation.
The home unfolds through a series of architectural terraces, starting from the upper-level main living spaces and flowing down to multi-level exterior patios and a private guest residence. This design mirrors the topography of the land, using elevation change to maximize views, privacy, and outdoor livability. Key interior spaces—such as the great room, kitchen, and primary bedroom suite—are oriented to capture sweeping views of Arizona’s mountain ranges and desert vegetation, while shaded patios and deep overhangs shield from intense sun.
The Heselton Home is a striking example of modern hillside architecture in Arizona, rooted in the terrain and elevated by clean lines, expansive glazing, and the signature Spry Architecture attention to site-driven design.
