Modern Hillside Architecture with Panoramic Views in Clearwater Hills, Arizona Designed by Spry Architecture | 5,550 SF Luxury Home Overlooking Camelback and Mummy Mountains The Hippel Home is a dramatic 5,550-square-foot modern residence located on a steep hillside lot in Clearwater Hills, a private community nestled near Paradise Valley, Arizona. Designed by Eric Spry of Spry Architecture, the three-story custom home climbs the slope in sculpted tiers, capturing uninterrupted views of Camelback Mountain, Mummy Mountain, and the Paradise Valley skyline. Carefully woven into its one-acre desert lot, the home emphasizes site-specific design, dramatic topography, and seamless indoor–outdoor living.
Built into the hillside with respect for both views and terrain, the Hippel Home is organized into three distinct levels, each oriented to maximize sightlines and outdoor connectivity. The main level contains the open-plan great room, which merges the living, dining, and kitchen spaces. This floor opens directly to a large outdoor entertaining area, which includes a three-sided negative edge pool that mirrors the mountain ridgelines. The primary suite also resides on this level, with private access to the patio and sweeping mountain and valley views. The third level includes bedrooms, a shared lounge, and an upper-level view patio with a firepit — perfect for enjoying Arizona sunsets from above the treetops.
The Hippel Home is a masterful expression of modern architecture shaped by the land. It showcases Spry Architecture’s signature approach: clean lines, energy-conscious design, and sensitive site integration — all in service of the stunning natural views that define the Arizona experience.
