A modern home in Phoenix, Arizona
Eric Spry, Spry Architecture
The P+P Home is a 3,000-square-foot modern custom residence in Phoenix, Arizona, designed by Eric Spry of Spry Architecture. Created for a family of three, this home embodies the philosophy that true architectural beauty lies not in excess, but in intentionality. Stripped of ornament and unnecessary embellishment, the design explores a fundamental question: If we reduce architecture to its essential components, what remains? In the case of the P+P Home, what remains is clarity, efficiency, and a powerful architectural presence that speaks softly yet confidently.
The home was developed with four central ideals, all of which guided the design, structure, construction methods, and budget: Efficient Modern Design, Efficient Structural Design, Efficient Constructability and Energy Efficiency. These principles shaped every material decision and detail, resulting in a residence that is streamlined, cost-conscious, and deeply livable — with no wasted space and no awkward transitions. The result is a modern family home that feels light, grounded, and authentic.
Behind its minimalist design lies a complex orchestration of modern materials, natural light, and spatial clarity. The layout provides 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a 3-car garage, making it both highly functional and refined. Every component — from the siting to the framing to the way the light falls through the windows — reflects Spry Architecture’s commitment to architecture that is honest, intelligent, and unencumbered.
The P+P Home is not about flashy materials or complicated forms. It’s about architecture distilled to its core purpose — shelter, beauty, and functionality — executed with care and precision. It stands as a reminder that modern architecture doesn’t have to be loud to make a lasting impression. Sometimes, the quietest designs resonate the loudest.
