Modern Desert Architecture in Gold Canyon, Arizona Designed by Spry Architecture | 3,000 SF Custom Home Floating Over the Sonoran Desert The Siegel Home is a 3,000-square-foot modern desert residence located in the Tapestry community of Gold Canyon, Arizona, designed by Eric Spry of Spry Architecture. Set among natural saguaro cactus, desert boulders, and rugged terrain, this custom home is designed to hover lightly over the land—like a dock extending into the desert. With views in all directions, from majestic mountain backdrops to glittering city lights, the Siegel Home reflects Spry Architecture’s deep commitment to place-based, environmentally conscious design.
The home's design carefully navigates the contours of the raw Sonoran Desert, weaving through the natural vegetation and preserving the integrity of the landscape. Glass walls and carefully framed apertures allow for 360-degree views, while deep roof overhangs provide critical shade in the intense Arizona climate. At the heart of the home, a covered outdoor living area with pool serves as the project's visual and structural anchor — a seamless indoor–outdoor space for gathering, relaxing, and enjoying the desert light and air.
Currently on hold as development of the surrounding land continues, the Siegel Home is a vision of how modern architecture can tread lightly while offering luxury, livability, and lasting design. With its hovering form, organic siting, and thoughtful use of materials, this project exemplifies Spry Architecture’s belief in connecting homes to their environment in meaningful, modern ways.
